Brazilian World Cup legend Jairzinho saw Ronaldo's potential and helped get him the move to Cruzeiro, and the faith was repaid as Ronaldo led them to their first Copa do Brasil championship, scoring an amazing 58 goals in 60 games

Such an impressive goal-scoring record attracted attention from all over the world, particularly in Europe. This intensified as Ronaldo made his international debut in early 1994 for Brazil against Argentina. Following the advice from fellow countryman Romario, and after only one season with Cruzeiro, Ronaldo signed with Holland's PSV Eindhoven
