Fiorentina 1992 - No.9 Batistuta.

The most significant event in Fiorentina's difficult 1992 season was the arrival of Argentinian striker Gabriel Batistuta, who was to break the club scoring record during his nine years at the club.
Batistuta was 'La Viola’s' footballing spearhead and spiritual leader in the nineties. To the fans, he was a demigod, not only for his goals, but also his decision to stick with the club after being relegated in 1993.

The long hair, upturned collar and a rugged chin of stubble belied moments of gracefulness but his finishing was brutal - epitomised by his unique swivel of an imaginary sub-machine gun celebration.
It is fair to say to say Fiorentina were only denied the 1999 Scudetto when Batistuta pulled up with a hamstring injury in a pivotal game against eventual champions Milan.

Batistuta remarked years later “I loved being there, as I knew of the bond I have with these people, but I must confess I never expected such a wonderful show of love the unique years I spent in Florence cannot be compared to any other football experience.”
He scored 157 goals in 254 games for Fiorentina in all competitions, helping them win the Italian Cup in 1996, the year in which a bronze statue of 'Batigol' was erected.

Corinthians 1970 - No.10 Rivelino.

Famous for his large moustache, Roberto Rivelino is a Brazilian idol who won the 1970 World Cup with the national team although ultimately success eluded him with Corinthians.
He would go on to win many trophies at his next club Fluminense, but would always remain a cult hero in Sao Paulo.

A favourite of the fans - nicknamed "O Rei do Parque" (King of the Park) - he had a talent for bending free kicks, accurate long passing, vision and close ball control. He also perfected a football move called the "flip flap", famously copied by Ronaldinho and Ronaldo in recent years. He is widely regarded as one of the most graceful football players ever, and among the best midfielders of his generation.

Paris Saint-Germain 1993 - No.10 Rai.

Like his older brother Socrates, Rai was also an attacking midfielder but unlike his more acclaimed sibling he would have much success playing in Europe.
Already a World Club Cup winner for his home team Sao Paulo in 1992, Rai moved to Paris the following year and immediately helped them to only PSG's second ever league title.

He played for five seasons in Ligue 1, three seasons of which his scoring was in double digits.
Rai won all four domestic trophies in his time at PSG, and proved essential as the capital outfit won the 1996 UEFA Cup Winners' Cup, scoring twice in a 3–2 win against Parma.
In 1998 the tug of a return to Sao Paulo proved to good to turn down and he left France to finish his career at the Morumbi.

Washington Diplomats 1980 - No.14 Cruyff.

The NASL’s superstar tsunami finally hit the US capital in 1980, when the Dips signed Cruyff. He had been wooed by the Cosmos for years and had even played a few exhibition games with the New Yorkers alongside Pelé, but he never joined them full-time.
Aged 32 he moved from the LA Aztecs to play for the 'Dips' and played the whole 1980 campaign for them, even as the team was facing dire financial trouble at the time.

That season they started getting 55,000 capacity crowds as Cruyff wowed the league.
“He was like a conductor, and we were his orchestra,” says team-mate Marcantonio. “He wasn’t like Pelé coming over—not being the player people remember. Cruyff could still do it all. There was incredible pressure on him not to ruin his reputation. He was aware people couldn’t do the things he could do. But he was the ultimate team guy. The highlight of my career was sharing a field with him.”
