Brazil 1982 - No.8 Socrates.
An outstanding two-footed playmaker, Socrates was capped 60 times for Brazil between 1979 and 1986, scoring 22 goals. He captained a sublime Selecao at the 1982 World Cup in Spain. The romantic-minded may have shed a tear for Brazil, a glorious team of multi-talented midfielders which should have won the tournament but were outfoxed by a stubborn Italian team in one of the best games ever.
"Socrates seemed like a player from another era," former Italy forward and Brazilian nemesis Paolo Rossi once remarked. "You couldn't place him in any category -- on the pitch and even more so off it.
