Real Madrid 1986 - No.7 Butragueno.

Home.

Emilio Butragueno epitomised the values of a bygone age. Unassuming, industrious and a gentleman on and off the field of play, the Spanish striker always let his football speak for him during a glittering career, scoring freely and with a minimum of fuss for club and country.

A Merengue through and through, Butragueno honed his razor-sharp finishing skills in the youth sides at Real Madrid before graduating to the first team in 1984. Acquiring the nickname of El Buitre (The Vulture), he went on to spearhead a fabled quintet of home-grown players that also included Rafael Martin Vazquez, Michel, Miguel Pardeza and Manolo Sanchis.

Emilio formed a deadly partnership with Mexican Hugo Sanchez and amassed 123 La Liga goals in 341 games for Los Blanco's.
In the early eighties Real had lost their way, but Butragueño contributed to the side's transformation in the second half of the decade, and was an instrumental member of the capital club's five national leagues, two domestic cups and two (consecutive) UEFA Cups.

Away.

1986 saw Real finally reclaim the Spanish title but also saw them defeat FC Koln of Germany 5-3 on aggregate to retain the Uefa Cup.
To his eternal regret, however, he would never get his hands on the European Cup.

After 11 years with Real, he wound down his career in Mexico with Atletico Celaya before retiring from the game in 1998. Embarking on another career, he took an MA in Sports Management in the USA, and returned to the Santiago Bernabeu to become Director of Football.

Lyon 1970.

Olympique Lyonnais is one of the most popular clubs in France, with 11% of the country's population supporting the club. Lyon shares this number with Paris Saint-Germain and trails only Olympique de Marseille with regard to fan base. But Lyon do hold the honor of being the richest club in the country, having generated an annual revenue stream of €131.9 million.
In 2013, business magazine Forbes ranked Lyon as the 15th most valuable football team in the world.

Lyon have used a variety of radical kits in recent years but it seemed the blue and red striped shirts they originally wore in the seventies have bought them most luck as they have won six of their seven Ligue 1 titles wearing it.

Cruzeiro 1993 - No.9 Ronaldo.

Considered by many as the most complete striker in the past 30 years, Ronaldo Luís Nazário de Lima began his football career with Cruzeiro in 1993 after being turned down by his boyhood favourite team Flamengo. Brazilian World Cup legend Jairzinho saw Ronaldo's potential and helped get him the move to Cruzeiro, and the faith was repaid as Ronaldo led them to their first Copa do Brasil championship, scoring an amazing 58 goals in 60 games.

Such an impressive goal-scoring record attracted attention from all over the world, particularly in Europe. This intensified as Ronaldo made his international debut in early 1994 for Brazil against Argentina. Following the advice from fellow countryman Romario, and after only one season with Cruzeiro, Ronaldo signed with Holland's PSV Eindhoven.

China 1982.

The national team was founded in 1924 in the Republic of China under the auspices of the China Football Association and joined FIFA in 1931. Following the Chinese Civil War, the CFA was formed in the newly founded People's Republic of China. They remained affiliated with FIFA until 1958, when they withdrew, but they rejoined in 1979.
China have won the East Asian Cup twice in 2005 and 2010 and been runners up twice. Although China failed to score a goal in their maiden FIFA World Cup appearance in 2002, losing all their matches, just qualifying for the tournament has been considered the greatest accomplishment in their football history.
