Sport Club Internacional were founded in 1909 under the same principles as their Italian namesakes from Milan, one of equality, being created for Brazilians and foreigners alike. The club from Porto Alegre in Brazil is one of only three teams that competed in all Brazilian National League's first division championships since its inception in 1971.
2006 was the most successful year in Inter's history as they won the Copa Libertadores having beaten South American reigning champions São Paulo and the FIFA Club World Cup, defeating European champions Barcelona.
The stars above the badge represent the club's national honours and the Libertadores, and a diamond star, placed above them, commemorate the world crown.
